Time goes on

Fri Oct 2, 2009, 12:29 AM
Well. My School Certificate trials are over, and so is the third term of this year's education for me.

And I've actually achieved a bit on Bugspray and my other projects like pl_tyrolmountain.

In terms of design, I think for basic shape design I've been getting quite a lot better, with gradients and everything. I've also grown a love of Mac OS X icons (of course, I still love Silk as always)...

As for layouts that aren't really like that, today I've been working on a website for Bugspray that involves things like grass instead of just boxes and things like that. Hopefully it looks nice in the state it is in right now.

With the recent release of Zune 4.0 Software, I've finally decided to check it out, and my god it is brilliant... WMP can go sulking somewhere else far, far away, and iTunes... well, I don't know how to describe it, but I like Zune Software more than it. The player... simply looks stunning. Honestly.

It's also been time since that last journal update, and now Mac OS X is starting to pull me towards it. Software like Coda look excellent and quite usable, and Notepad++ looks hardly as good :P

If I did install Mac OS X one day, it'd most likely be as a Hackintosh install. I have no real interest in Mac hardware; it's overpriced, and even though it may be quality, I don't want to care about having an aluminium thing to feel all day and get giddy about; what matters is what's on the screen.

Still, there are some factors that don't want me to go towards Macs. Mainly, they're the dock and menu bar. If anyone can convince me without a major fanboy attitude that the dock and menubar are superior to Windows 7's superbar and Window's menu bar positioning respectively, I'll have those things crossed off my list.

Also, Jeff Attwood has been talking about marketing, with a book called "Predictably Irrational" by Dan Ariely. I'd like that book... it'd be interesting to see why we behave the way we do when it comes to economics. It's making me grow more interested in psychology... heh.

Well, that's what I can get off my head right now.

In other news, DA's mood panel isn't loading for me.
